Degrassi: The Next Generation is a very popular Canadian drama created by Linda Schuyler and Yan Moore. It first hit the TV screens on October 14, 2001 with the series opener entitled Mother and Child Reunion. The ninth season finale of Degrassi: The Next Generation was aired on August 30, 2009. The show, the fourth production of Degrassi franchise, is being aired on Canada CTV. 

It’s all centered on a group of teenagers studying at the Degrassi Community School. The leading characters of the series are Hazel Aden, Jimmy Brooks, Sean Cameron, Tobias "Toby" Isaacs and Ashley Kerwin etc. The teenagers deal with the teenage issues such as gang violence, teenage pregnancy and drug abuse etc and the series follows them as they navigate through the everyday issues. Ever since its premiere, Degrassi: The Next Generation has won several awards such as nine Gemini Awards, two Teen Choice Awards and five Directors Guild of Canada Awards. The series is also aired in USA and has a great fan base throughout the world.
