Created by Michael Crichton, the popular American medical drama series, ER made its debut on September 19,1994. It ran for fifteen successful seasons and came to an end on April 2, 2009. It’s the longest running medical drama in the history of American television. ER has won several awards since its premiere. It has been nominated for Emmy awards for 123 times and has won 23 times. 

The storyline is set in the Emergency Room of fictional Country General Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. ER follows the everyday lives and activities of doctors, nurses and interns working at the hospital. The main characters of ER are Dr. Mark Greene, Dr. Douglas ‘Doug’ Ross, Dr. Susan Lewis, John Carter, and Dr. Peter Benton etc. During the run of ER, various challenging medical cases were shown to viewers. Various other events such as plane crashes, doctors’ insult inside the hospital, doctors’ relationships with the nurses etc added flavor to the story. ER, being one of the most popular medical dramas has launched the career of innumerous new faces. Series’ storyline and superb representation has helped the show to win such accolades.
