Directed by Akitaro Daichi, the animated television version of Fruits Basket is all based on Japanese Manga series of same name. It started its journey on July 5, 2001 and the series ender was aired on December 27, 2001.

The central character of the series is Tohru Honda, a high school student.    Her mother and father die in a car accident and she is orphaned. After the death of her mother, she starts to live with her grandfather. Their house requires remodeling so she starts to live in a tent in forest. One day she comes across the family of her classmate. She is asked by Sohams to live with them and she joins their home. What would she do when she comes to know that Sohma family is cursed? If any member of Sohma family is hugged by opposite sex, they get transformed into one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac or a cat. Fruits Basket follows Tohru and Sohma family.
