Created by Ilene Chaiken, Michele Abbot and Kathy Greenberg, The L Word is an American and Canadian co-production television series, being aired on the Showtime Network. The L Word was premiered on January 18, 2004 on the Showtime Network. It ran for six successful seasons and came to an end on March 8, 2009.

The storyline of The L Word is all set in Los Angeles area city of West Hollywood, California. It centers on the lives of a group of lesbian, bisexual and transgender people. The series begins with Jenny Schecter who comes to Los Angeles in order to make a new beginning with her boyfriend Tim Haspel. Bette Porter and Tina Kennard is a lesbian couple that is seen facing the challenges, which every lesbian couple faces while making a beginning. Other important characters of The L Word are Shane McCutcheon, Dana Fairbanks, Alice Pieszecki and Kit Porter etc. The L Words shows all of them dealing with the troubles which come the way of lesbian and bisexual people.
