A man named Howard Epps is to be executed in two days. He is accused of murdering a teenage girl. His attorney, very sure of his innocence, turns to Booth for help so that they can prove the innocence of Howard. Though Booth believes that Epps is not innocent, he agrees to reopen and investigate the case. Booth also takes Dr. Brennan’s help to re-investigate the case. During the investigation, they discover that Epps is not the killer and it leads them on a race against the time to catch the real killer before someone innocent is given the punishment.
