Michael Westen, the central character of the series, is a covert operations agent with the US Government.  While he is on an assignment in Nigeria, he gets shocked to learn that he has been issued a bun notice by the authorities.   Managing to escape his life, Michael Westen goes to his hometown Miami, Florida. While at there, Michael reunites with his former girlfriend Fiona Glenanne. He soon comes to know that his bank accounts have been frozen and all contracts have been lop off.  He tries to contract his former case officer as well as friend Dan Siebels.    Also, he reunites with his best friend Sam Axe and his mother Madeline Westen. His mother is not aware of his career.   His most primary concern is to put off FBI surveillance to the possible extent. A former colleague of Michael gives him the case to help an estate caretaker. The man needs to get his name cleared in the costly art theft. Michael mails a non-operable bomb to the office of Siebels and becomes able to meet him. As he returns home, he finds pictures saying ‘Welcome to Miami’.
