Twenty semi finalists had been chosen to participate. When all of them arrived to casting, they came to know that ten of them would be eliminated and ten would move to the finals. Auditions were held. Tyra Banks announced that only eight girls had been selected for the next rounds. The final eight girls came to New York. In order to fill up the two vacant places, a second round of auditions was held. Giselle and Tessa joined the eight contestants and the no. of final contestants reached ten. After the first photo shoot, the judges made various statements.  Elyse was noticed for being too much slim. Tessa posed in a wrong manner. Shannon was better in her pictures than reality. Ultimately, the judges decided to eliminate Tessa as her personality was not like that of a model.
