There are two new cases at the Jeffersonian Institute, which need to be investigated. One of them is about a corpse.  As per FBI investigation, the dead body is of James Cuguni, a mobster. The second case is about the murder victim of Kevin Hollings, a serial killer. On the other hand, Dr. Brennan is about to meet her online friend on their first date. She narrowly escapes a shooting at the local restaurant.   As she starts to investigate the shooting, she discovers that the shooter may have some connections with the two cases she is investigating.  Dr. Brennan’s life is in danger as the shooter chases her.
